William was raised in a family of educators, quite literally born to teach. His mother had a long career as a beloved elementary science teacher, and his father is one of the most prolific living mathematicians with ground-breaking work in the field of harmonic analysis. They noticed that their son, even before entering kindergarten, was already teaching his little brother how to read and write.
It was quickly evident that William excelled at mathematics like his father, tested with a high IQ and solving advanced problems from a very young age. He studied math relentlessly, especially during long periods of living abroad. Because of his father’s research, the family would live for months in various part of the world including China, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Argentina, and Romania while the children perfected their language, mathematics, and artistic skills.
While studying mathematics at the University of Tennessee, William excelled as a concert violinist under the guidance of Russian musician Mark Zelmanovich. Shortly after graduating with a Master’s Degree in Mathematics Education, he moved to Middle Tennessee to begin a career as a teacher. During these early years as a young educator, he made a revolutionary discovery. Through extended research William developed a unique formula that generated every possible Pythagorean triple, the result soon published in The College Mathematics Journal.
William made an immediate and tremendous impact early in his career after being hired as a math instructor at an inner-city middle school. The program was struggling with test scores among the lowest in the state, yet William’s students were soon consistently achieving above the 80th percentile. Many became the first in their families to gain acceptance to college, becoming tremendously successful in their future careers.
A rural high school took note of this success, recruiting William to turn around their academic shortcomings. He accepted the challenge and within a decade, the school’s math department had become the most successful in the entire state by many standards. The percentage of graduates taking calculus under William’s tutelage, negligible before his arrival, now far exceeded all other programs including academic magnets and prestigious private schools. His students’ scores on the national AP Exam were extraordinary with 93% passing the rigorous exam, 82% of those being designated as highly proficient. William implemented several programs that had a positive influence including an annual conference that invited speakers from America’s best universities to the school, encouraging young people to apply to such lofty institutes. Soon graduates were being accepted into the best Ivy League and technical schools in the nation including Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Brown, Duke, Vanderbilt, and Georgia Tech. The high school skyrocketed from academic obscurity to a consistent ranking among the top 500 schools in America.
William has now focused his efforts on helping young people who struggle with mathematics through private tutoring. His results are undeniable, reaching students from elementary to college level by using innovative techniques, instilling confidence, reinforcing talents and strengthening weaknesses. His immense knowledge of the intricacies and applications of mathematics is unquestionable, his methods are inventive, and his success is unmatched. William’s academic and diverse upbringing has formed him into a mentor who deeply cares about all students, their mathematical development, and the achievement of their utmost academic potential.
